THUNDER BAY – Despite the continued low price of oil, gas prices at some local pumps appear poised to jump.
As of Thursday afternoon several gas bars around the city had raised their prices by as much as six cents, bringing the per-litre price point back to above 92 cents.
This follows a provincial trend of rising gas prices despite the price of crude oil being listed, as of Friday morning, $31.88US.
The lowest price for a litre of regular gasoline in Thunder Bay as of Friday morning could be found at the Super Store, where online gas price watchdog Ontariogasprices.com had reported it as being 84.9-cents a litre.
The most expensive price listed by the same website was at the Petro-Canada station at Arthur and Browns Streets, which had a listed price of 97.2-cent-a-litre.
While many stations continue to sell fuel at or near the 86-cents-a-litre mark, more than a dozen now have prices above 91-cents-a-litre.
