Gas prices push local inflation above 3.5 per cent

High gas prices are driving up Thunder Bay's inflation rate. According to numbers from Statistics Canada, the rate of inflation for the city rose from 3.4 per cent in March to 3.7 in April.

According to numbers from Statistics Canada, the rate of inflation for the city rose from 3.4 per cent in March to 3.7 in April.

Nationally the rate is above the Bank of Canada's comfort zone again. April's overall price index remained at an elevated 3.3 per cent for the country.

It was the second straight month consumer prices were above the two per cent target the Bank of Canada strives to maintain.
