THUNDER BAY -- Local motorists can expect to pay $1.309 or more for a litre of gasoline.
Gas prices spiked 11 cents a litre on Friday at stations across the city, the increase piling on top an earlier eight cent-a-litre hike that hit drivers in their wallets already this week.
The hefty jump is likely the result of the devastation left behind by Hurricane Harvey in the southern United States, where several oil refineries were forced to shut down while waiting out the deadly storm.
According to the Ontario Gas Prices, an online gas-price watchdog, the average Ontario motorists are paying about $1.20 per litre for regular unleaded fuel, but prices are still rising.
The lowest price in the Thunder Bay area is the Husky station on Alloy Drive and Balmoral Avenue, where gas is still listed t $1,119 a litre.
