THUNDER BAY – While prices at many gas bars across the city have shot up, there are still some lower rates to be found.
Local motorists were sent into a panic Wednesday as posted prices at some Thunder Bay gas stations quickly rose nearly 15 cents-per-litre, hitting to $1.367-a-litre at many locations.
According to ontariogasprices.com, a gas price watchdog website, all but a small handful of stations have raised their prices.
The most expensive locations listed on the website are two Esso stations, one on Dawson Road and the other on Arthur Street, both at $1.399.
The lowest rate in the city is reported to be at the Real Canadian Superstore, at $1.217.
Fort William First Nation’s K&A Variety and Gas Bar has a reported price of $1.179.
The provincial average for gas is $1.119 with prices trending upward. The national average is reported to have jumped to $1.170 on Thursday from $1.129 on Wednesday.
