Gravelle to seek re-election in 2018

Longtime Liberal MPP on Monday will make his first public appearance since February, when he announced he was suffering from depression.

THUNDER BAY – It appears long-time Thunder Bay MPP Michael Gravelle is not ready to ride off into the political sunset.

Gravelle, the Minister of Northern Development and Mines, has been away from his duties for several months, seeking treatment for depression. It fuelled speculation the 68-year-old would not seek office a seventh term in 2018.

However, on Friday his office confirmed Gravelle indeed will put his name on the ballot and attempt to keep the seat in the Liberal fold. The news was first reported by TVO.

Gravelle on Monday will make his first public appearance since taking a leave of absence in February.
