Group worries about nursing in Ontario despite McGuinty announcement

Despite the McGuinty government announcing 900 new nurses last month, the Ontario Health Coalition says they're actually worried about cuts to nursing positions.

Despite the McGuinty government announcing 900 new nurses last month, the Ontario Health Coalition says they're actually worried about cuts to nursing positions.

The group was in Thunder Bay Thursday night to host a town hall meeting to warn residents about what may be coming down the road.

Close to 30 people showed up to the meeting held at the Waverley Resource Library.  The panel discussed the government's budget cuts and what that could mean for local hospitals, out-patient clinics, nursing homes and long-term care.

The goal of the meeting was to encourage people to launch an action plan to protect the region and notify people about the importance of nurses.

The tour will continue for the next week with stops in Kenora, Sudbury and Windsor.
