Growing up in a smaller community can be difficult at times, especially if you happen to be a part of minority that some people might not understand.
On Tuesday evening, members of the LGTB community held a memorial at city hall for trans-gendered people who had lost their lives due to crimes of violence and hate.
Many of the people attending the candlelight vigil were not of a trans-gendered background, but it was still a showing of support by those who want to stand up against prejudice and intolerance. The Trans Support Collective and Lakehead University's Pride Central helped organize the first "Day of Remembrance" in Thunder Bay. There was also a solemn moment as they read the names of those who had lost their lives through hate crimes.
