Minister of Status of Women Patty Hajdu defends her decision to spend $1.1 million on new office space for her ministry, rather than renovating exisiting space at a cost of $400,000 (Leith Dunick, tbnewswatch.com).

OTTAWA – Status of Women Minister Patty Hajdu is expected to be given a new role on Tuesday when Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shuffles his cabinet.

According to a Canadian Press report published on Monday, Hajdu is one of six people expected to be involved in the cabinet changes.

Also believed to be in the mix are International Trade Minister Chystia Freeland, who CP says is expected to replace Stephane Dion at Foreign Affairs.

The article describes Hajdu as a strong performer in Trudeau’s cabinet, but does not say what role she will take on in the new-look Liberal government.

Sources, speaking anonymously because they are not authorized to disclose details publicly, expect at least one new face in cabinet: Francois-Philippe Champagne, currently parliamentary secretary to Finance Minister Bill Morneau.
