Hammer attack lands 34-year-old man in hospital

THUNDER BAY – A 34-year-old man suffered injuries to his face in an alleged hammer attack between Cameron Street apartment tenants.

According to police a male suspect from another apartment began banging on the victim’s door making threats. When the victim opened the door he was struck with a hammer and then pepper sprayed. The man was taken to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

Forty-year-old Paul Cameron Kellheher was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, uttering threats and breach of recognizance.

The suspect appeared in court and has been remanded into custody.
