Patriotic events organized to help celebrate Canada Day took place across the city.

Here are some images that tbnewswatch.com captured at the Fort William Historical Park and the Marina Park Friday afternoon. Family-focused activities were taking place at the park from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

An estimated 2,000 people had already made their way into the park by 1 p.m., and Park officials said they expected there could be as many as 4,000 by the time events came to a close.

Meanwhile, more activities, events and performances were going on across the city all day at the Marina Park.

Thousands of people streamed into and out of Marina Park throughout the day for a variety of performances and food.

The north core downtown was also a hub of activity as streets were blocked off to motor vehicles to allow for more foot traffic on the special holiday.
