THUNDER BAY -- Thunder Bay Police Chief Sylvie Hauth has now been suspended from duty while under investigation by the OCPC.

Acting Deputy Chief Dan Taddeo will take over in the interim, the Thunder Bay Police Services Board announced in an update Tuesday evening.

Administrator Malcolm Mercer is empowered to make decisions on behalf of the board, but gathered input on the issue in closed door meetings with remaining board members Mayor Bill Mauro, Georjann Morriseau, and newly-appointed Coun. Shelby Ch'ng, who was sworn in Tuesday.

Hauth faces hearings on three alleged counts of misconduct under the Police Services Act, the Ontario Civilian Police Commission announced last week.
