THUNDER BAY -- March is Nutrition Month, and the Thunder Bay District Health Unit is challenging the public to make changes towards healthy eating.

To help people do that, the 100 Meal Journey was launched at Intercity Shopping Centre Tuesday.

The average person eats about 100 meals a month public health dietitian Kim McGibbon said. People often feel overwhelmed trying to plan healthy meals but one way to overcome that, is to make smaller changes.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit hosted a cooking challenge at the mall to inspire the public in the kitchen. Three local celebrities were each paired with a chef to create a meal from selected ingredients. McGibbon said to complete the challenge, each meal must fulfill a set of conditions, including local ingredients and a secret ingredient personally brought by each team.

Culinary professor Bill Gregorash and his partner Coun. Linda Rydholm brought balsamic glaze to make a quinoa risotto. Gregorash said healthy eating can be as simple as using quality ingredients.

McGibbon says people can pledge to take the 100 Meal Journey online and follow the weekly tips.
