Health unit reporting one new COVID-19 case

The active case count dropped slightly from 31 to 28.

THUNDER BAY - The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay District fell slightly as the number of resolved cases once again is greater than the number of new cases.

On Friday, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported one new case of COVID-19. The case is from Thunder Bay and surrounding areas and the exposure is still pending.

With four previous cases now considered resolved, the number of active cases fell from 31 to 28.

There were no new variants of concern detected in the district.

One more person has been admitted to hospital with the virus. According to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre, there were nine patients admitted with COVID-19 as of Thursday and four in the intensive care unit. Five individuals from the district are in hospital.

To date the Thunder Bay District has reported a total of 3,176 positive cases of COVID-19.
