A new video has been launched to help reduce children’s exposure to household toxic chemicals.

The video was created using input from local parents, agencies and staff members at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

The 12-minute  production, titled Creating Healthy Home Environments for Kids, was a collaboration of the Health Unit and the Canadian Partnership for Children’ s Health and Environment.

Evidence suggests that toxic exposure from common products in the home can affect the health of children and their development.

Erica Phipps, with the Canadian Partnership group talks about the reasoning behind the video.

Phipps also says it is important to go green with store bought cleaners, avoid microwaving plastic and to choose frozen or fresh foods over items in cans.
