THUNDER BAY -- New mothers need more support through the Healthy Babies Healthy Children Program. That conclusion was reached Wednesday by the Thunder Bay District Board of Health and the group is not alone in their efforts to secure more funding
The board met at the Health Unit Wednesday afternoon and heard that their counterparts in Sudbury are in the same position. They say the program is 100 per cent funded through the Ministry of Child and Youth Services. However, due to the demand and success of the program, more money is needed to further expand it.
Health Promotions Director Lynda Roberts says they are sending a letter to advocate for their needs.
The board of health says they are specifically looking for more funding for all staffing needs, operating and administrative costs.
