A senior Thunder Bay Police Service officer is facing two charges of misconduct in relation to an alleged series of frauds committed in the city’s sexual offender registry office.

The new evidence came to light on Wednesday, when Insp. Dan Taddeo made his first appearance before a hearing called as a result of a Police Services Act investigation conducted by the Toronto Police Service Professional Standards Unit.

On the first count it’s alleged that on or about Jan. 17, 2005 and on or about Jan. 11, 2010 Taddeo committed neglect of duty by failing to properly supervise Const. Toni Grann and the administration of the sexual offender registry, which the police department is responsible for keeping.

The second count alleges neglect of duty, stating Taddeo failed to report a matter that was his duty to report, more succinctly Grann’s alleged unsatisfactory work performance or misconduct.

Hearing dates for Taddeo, who has been suspended with pay since Jan. 28, have yet to be determined.

None of the charges have been proven in a court of law.
