THUNDER BAY - Environment Canada has placed the city under a heat warning.
The national weather service issued the advisory shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, where the temperature is 21C with humidex values of 24. Though it is currently low, temperatures are expected to rise beginning Wednesday morning.
Environment Canada is forecasting daily highs of around 30 C on both Wednesday and Thursday with humidex values expected in the mid-30s.
There is a risk of thunderstorms beginning Tuesday night and continuing Thursday.
People are advised to drink plenty of water if outside for extended periods of time and to be on the lookout for symptoms of heat related illness. Those most at risk include young children, older adults and people who exercise or work outside.
