THUNDER BAY - Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the city of Thunder Bay.

Temperatures are expected to eclipse the 30 degree mark, while humidex values are expected to reach 40.

Current forecasts suggest that the hot and humid conditions could persist into Monday for some areas.

The heat is expected to pose an elevated risk of heat illnesses, such as heat stroke or heat exhaustion.

Environment Canada is urging people to take measures to avoid the risk of heat, and to continue to monitor alerts and forecasts.
