THUNDER BAY - The month of April is starting off by living up to its reputation with heavy showers in the forecast.
Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the city and surrounding region advising significant rainfall is possible on Sunday.
The rainfall is the result of a low pressure system moving into Northern Ontario on Sunday.
Rain is expected to begin early Sunday morning and persist throughout the day into the night. As much as 25 millimeters of rain is possible.
With the ground still frozen the rain will not be absorbed as quickly and people are advised to avoid creeks and river banks.
