THUNDER BAY – Heavy rainfall is expected to dump between 40 and 60 millimetres of rain on the city of Thunder Bay on Labour Day Monday.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for the city, saying heavy rainfall and slow-moving thunderstorms are possible.

Isolated thunderstorms are expected to affect areas west of Lake Superior on Monday as well, which could include Upsala and Lac des Mille Lacs First Nation to the west and Kiashke Zaaging Anishinaabek to the east, with the heaviest rainfall amounts localized and the vast majority of the region receiving very little rain.
