THUNDERBAY -- A special weather statement has been issued for the city of Thunder Bay.

According to Environment Canada, heavy snow is possible later Tuesday night into early Wednesday.

Snow ahead of a deepening low pressure area from the Southern Plains States is expected to hit Northwestern Ontario Tuesday night.

Snow may become heavy at times for a few hours with many areas receiving 10 to possibly 15 centimetres by Wednesday morning.

Hazardous winter driving conditions are expected. Untreated roads may become snow covered and slippery. Low visibility in heavy snow may also be an issue to deal with.

Snowfall warnings may be required as this event draws closer.
