THUNDER BAY - Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement advising that a winter storm is moving into the region that could bring heavy snowfall.

A system is moving in from the United States and is expected to hit Northwestern Ontario by early Sunday afternoon.

Snow is expected to continue into the evening, with total accumulation of 15 centimetres possible by Sunday night.

The heaviest snowfall is expected Sunday afternoon and early evening and could cause reduced visibility.

Motorists are advised heavy snowfall and reduced visibility could make for hazardous driving conditions and possible road closures. Drivers should exercise caution and plan accordingly.
