Sheelagh Hendrick has been named the city’s acting crime prevention council co-ordinator.
Hendrick takes over the position on Sept. 19, replacing Amy Siciliano who is on maternity leave.
Hendrick, a deputy city clerk for the past three years, has a backgrounds in community development. Eleven years ago she became the city’s first community relations co-ordinator, and later helped establish Thunder Bay’s physician recruitment and retention council.
“There are a number of disciplines, or pillars, that are critical to crime prevention through social development, and community recreation is one of them,” city manager Tim Commissoo said Thursday in a release issued by the municipality.
“With her strong background in community development and evidence-based decision making, Sheelagh will be a valuable addition to the crime prevention council as it moves into the implementation of its newly formed strategy.”
The strategy is scheduled to be delivered to council later this month.
