Highway death in Nipigon leads to arrest in Winnipeg

A Winnipeg man faces charges in connection with an incident this weekend that claimed the life of a Lake Helen man. The body of 21-year-old Miles Fawcett was found at the Nipigon Bridge around 6:30 a.m. Sunday.

A Winnipeg man faces charges in connection with an incident this weekend that claimed the life of a Lake Helen man.

The body of 21-year-old Miles Fawcett was found at the Nipigon Bridge around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. OPP officers shut down a section of Highway 11/17 during their investigation. The highway closure lasted about nine hours.

Now the OPP says a 44-year-old Winnipeg man has been taken into custody in Winnipeg and has been charged with failing to remain at a fatal motor vehicle collision.

Peter Angelkovski has been remanded in custody and will appear in a Kenora court.
