NIPIGON, Ont. -- Traffic on the new Nipigon River Bridge is going back down to one lane for a couple of days starting Thursday.
Work on the demolition of the old bridge, next to the new one, will begin Thursday and wrap up on Friday.
Highway 11/17 at the bridge will be reduced to a single lane of traffic and minor delays can be expected.
The Ministry of Transportation says the temporarily lane restrictions are required to ensure the safety of motorists and workers during the demolition.
The bridge just re-opened to two lanes on Feb. 25, six weeks after a construction failure caused bolts to break and one end of the bridge to heave.
