Highway traffic stop leads to drug charges

DRYDEN, Ont. -- A Fort Erie man has been arrested and charged with trafficking narcotics following a traffic stop on Highway 17.

DRYDEN, Ont. -- A Fort Erie man has been arrested and charged with trafficking narcotics following a traffic stop on Highway 17.

Officials with the Northwest Detachment of the OPP say officers stopped a silver Chrysler car on Highway 17 within the City of Dryden Monday.

Upon investigating, police discovered what they describe simply as a “large amount of a controlled substance.”

Investigators estimated the drugs found could amount to a potential street value of $117,000.

The driver, a 26-year-old Fort Erie, Ont., man has been arrested for possession for the purpose of trafficking a controlled substance.

The suspect is being held in custody and awaits a bail hearing.
