Rock 94’s Dee Jaroway has married two things she’s always wanted to do – helping people and traveling.

The co-host of the Mark and Dee morning show won the chance to go across Canada through the Kia Motor’s International Facebook contest. The contest asked participants to submit a realistic plan on what they would do if they were to receive a new Kia Soul vehicle.

Jaroway wanted to help the needy and decided to do a cross-country food drive called Feed My Soul. The idea was approved in March and Jaroway immediately began planning for her cross-country trip.

“I have never driven much on the highway so this should be very interesting,” Jaroway said on Wednesday before starting the first leg of her journey.

“Helping people and traveling is something I’ve always wanted to do and now I get to do both.”

For the next two weeks, Jaroway will travel from Mississauga to Halifax stopping at Kia dealerships along the way to collect food donations.
But she won’t be alone.

She will be joined by Thunder Bay Source Editor, Leith Dunick, former Thunder Bay Television News anchor Lindsay Arnone-Fron and Confederation College graduate Jenna Dumas.

The companions will travel east from Thunder Bay to St. John’s, N.L. while stopping at major cities including Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Fredericton, Charlottetown and Halifax.

For the long drive, Jaroway made a few rules to keep the peace in the car.

“Anyone that is driving gets to listen to their music,” she said.

Jaroway added that they don’t have a targeted goal but would give a total of what they did collect when they wrap up their trip on Aug. 15.

Dumas said she was looking forward to hitting the road.
“I’m really excited to go and have this opportunity,” Dumas said. “Dee told me about it and I’m happy to come along. I’m proud to represent Thunder Bay and help needy people.”

The group plans to document the entire trip through blogs, photos and videos posted on Facebook, Twitter and tbnewswatch.com.
