SUDBURY -- Mayors from the region’s five largest cities met Friday to discuss Northern issues.

Thunder Bay Mayor Keith Hobbs joined in via teleconference to the Northern Ontario Large Urban Mayors’ meeting held in Sudbury, joining Greater Sudbury Mayor Bryan Bigger, North Bay Mayor Al McDonald, Sault Ste. Marie Mayor Christian Provenzano and Timmins Mayor Steve Black.

Among the topics on the agenda was a commitment to update the Northern Priorities Paper, which since 2012 has advocated for the region.

The mayors also discussed their working relationship with the province and how to manage issues of mutual benefit.

“What’s good for Thunder Bay is good for Northern Ontario and good for the province, and what’s good for Northern Ontario is good for Thunder Bay,” Hobbs was quoted in a media release.
