THUNDER BAY – The holiday train is on its way.

The Canadian Pacific holiday train will make its annual stop in Thunder Bay on Tuesday night, scheduled to arrive at about 8:30 p.m. at the Canadian Pacific train depot on Syndicate Avenue.

CP spokeswoman Salem Woodrow said the program has been running across North America since 1999, raising $9.5 million and more than three million pounds of food.

“Everything the holiday train is doing is to raise money, food and awareness for food banks and hunger issues,” Woodrow said.
Members of the public are invited to welcome the train. There is no cost though people are encouraged to bring donations or non-perishable food items.

The stop will feature live music from alternative-rock band Odds and singer-songwriter Roxanne Potvin.

The train will stop in Marathon, Schreiber and Nipigon earlier Tuesday before arriving in the city. It will head west with stops scheduled in Ignace, Dryden, Vermillion Bay and Kenora on Wednesday.
