THUNDER BAY -- The city's police department confirmed Monday that a man whose body was discovered in a Belton Street home four days ago was murdered.

The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Salvatore Larizza.

“Preliminary results from a post mortem examination indicate foul play. The exact cause of death will not be disclosed since this is an ongoing investigation,” a media release issued by the Thunder Bay Police Service Monday states.

Neighbours approached about the incident declined to be interviewed. But one man, who describes himself as a friend of the victim, said there was heavy traffic in and out of the house the day before the body was discovered.

He said he believed a large number of those people were drug dealers.

The home had been the subject of a raid a couple of years ago during a major drug sweep.

Another neighbour says her children are now afraid to sleep in their house and fear being alone.
