THUNDER BAY – Council made quick work of Monday night’s agenda, with housing issues taking centre stage.
Councillors looked at bylaw exemptions for a four-unit condo on John Street Road and a five-plex on Powley Street.
Both those items passed unanimously.
Council also looked at a memorandum calling on the federal government to reinvest savings from expiring co-op housing agreements, back into affordable housing.
Thunder Bay's Castlegreen and Superior View Housing Co-operatives, are among the many housing co-ops nationally, that receive federal subsidies to provide affordable housing. With those deals set to expire soon, both co-ops came to council in December seeking support.
That memorandum also passed unanimously.
