A peaceful HST protest along Highway 17 west of White River was carried out Thursday afternoon.
OPP officials estimate 100 people took part in the protest organized by the Pic Mobert First Nation. Band officials say their goal was to inform the public about the negative impacts the new tax will have upon First Nation communities. OPP were on site and report the road side protesters slowed down traffic just enough to make motorists aware of their grievances.
The demonstration was being carried out peacefully and came to an end late Thursday afternoon OPP say.
