DINORWIC, ONT., — Human remains located at a Dinorwic property last November have been positively identified by the office of the chief coroner, Ontario Provincial Police announced Friday.

Dryden OPP said in a news release human remains located in a fire-damaged residence on Nov. 5, 2020, have been identified as 48-year-old Daniel Lethbridge. A post-mortem examination was conducted in Toronto.

OPP were initially called to a disturbance at a Railway Avenue residence in the town of Dinorwic last November. Both ambulance and police arrived to discover a man with life-threatening injuries. The male was pronounced dead at the scene. This deceased was identified as 75-year-old Richard McLeod of Dinorwic.

OPP treated his death as a homicide.

While at this scene, officers responded to a residential fire on a neighbouring property owned by Daniel Lethbridge. The Dinorwic volunteer fire department was also called to the scene to assist where human remains were found inside the fire-damaged residence.

OPP continue to investigate both deaths and say there is no public safety concern at this time.
