THUNDER BAY -- A second investigator will be joining the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society the agency for faster response times to animal cruelty calls.

The humane society responds to calls from White River to the Manitoba border. For their lone investigator Jeremy Gardiner that means some days he's spread out too thin. Now he has a new partner in Kamil Wierzbicki.

Wierzbicki is still in the 13-week training program. After completion he'll officially be sworn in.

Executive Director Melanie Blanchette says with this addition, they will be able to have a quicker respond rate. Last month they received double the amount of calls for animal cruelty.

To report suspected animal abuse call 310-SPCA.
