RED LAKE, ON — A Justice of the Peace has banned a Winnipeg man from hunting in Ontario for two years, and handed out  $5,850 in fines for hunting-related offences.

The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry says conservation officers interviewed the man while he was hunting moose at Nungesser Lake, north of Red Lake, in October 2017.

Their investigation revealed he had purchased Ontario resident hunting and fishing licences even though he was no longer a resident of Ontario.

He had also entered the resident moose tag draw using an invalid licence.

The man pleaded guilty to hunting without a valid moose licence, hunting with an invalid deer licence, unlawfully obtaining resident fishing licences, and making false statements on licence applications.
