A Vermillion Bay man was fined $4,000 for illegal hunting.
Matthew Jakobs pleaded guilty and was fined $4,000 for shooting a cow and calf moose from a motor boat. He also received a four-year hunting suspension.
Court heard that between October 20 and 29, 2014, Jakobs guided two non-resident moose hunters on the Woman River system northeast of Ear Falls. While Jakobs drove the boat, he instructed the two hunters to shoot at a cow and calf moose. Jakobs also joined in and shot at the moose while operating the vessel.

The ministry reminds the public that it is illegal to have a loaded firearm in or on, or discharge a loaded firearm from, a motor boat or other conveyance.
