DRYDEN, Ont. -- Two Timmins men have been fined for hunting violations.

Rafael Borroto Garcia pleaded guilty and was fined $1,000 for trespassing on private property for the purpose of hunting. He also received a two-year hunting suspension.

Ralph Miller pleaded guilty and was fined $1,500 for trespassing on private property for the purpose of hunting and $1,000 for failing to immediately attach his seal to game wildlife.

Court heard that on November 25, 2017, Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry conservation officers obtained a public tip that two men were hunting without permission on posted private property off the Amesdale Road, north of Dryden. Borroto Garcia and Miller were stopped in Ignace a short time later where it was determined they were in possession of an un-tagged buck white-tailed deer. The investigation determined the deer was harvested earlier that day on posted private property without the property owner’s permission.

Justice of the Peace Daisy Hoppe heard the case for Borroto Garcia in the Ontario Court of Justice, Dryden, on April 5, 2018. Justice of the Peace Anna Gibbon heard the case for Miller in the Ontario Court of Justice, Dryden, on September 6, 2018.

The ministry reminds the public that it is illegal to enter on to private property for the purpose of hunting without the property owner’s permission to hunt.
