Ice fisherman goes missing near Ear Falls

Police say a 64-year-old man did not return after heading out to fish on Sunday on Pakwash Lake.

RED LAKE, Ont. – Ontario Provincial Police want the public’s help to locate a missing 64-year-old man last seen on Sunday heading out to ice fish from the Ear Falls area.

Friends who commenced a search for the missing man, who police did not name, told the OPP they found a hole in the ice on Pakwash Lake, along with a snow machine helmet and jacket.

The OPP has deployed its Northwest Region Emergency Response Team and a helicopter unit, as well as the Lake of the Woods Search and Rescue to take part in the search.
