Impaired driving charges laid in three separate incidents

Ontario Provincial Police were busy responding to three separate impaired driving incidents.

FORT FRANCES, Ont. – Three people are facing impaired driving charges following three separate impaired driving incidents over the weekend.

While on patrol early Saturday morning OPP officers were advised of a traffic complaint.

Officers located the motor vehicle and through conversation with the driver, the officer determined that he had consumed alcohol.

The driver failed the roadside screening device and was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances police station, where he underwent further testing.

As a result, police charged a 46-year-old from New Brunswick.

He was released on a promise to appear and is bound to appear in court Dec. 31 to answer to his charges.

Thirty minutes later, another member of the Rainy River District OPP detachment conducted a vehicle stop on King’s Highway in Fort Frances for a highway traffic act violation.

Through conversation with the driver, the officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

He also failed the roadside screening device and was arrested and transported to the Fort Frances police station for further testing.

Police arrested and charged a 29-year-old Fort Frances man.

He was also released on a promise to appear. He is scheduled to appear in court Jan. 7 to answer to the charges.

The next day, an officer responded to a suspicious motor vehicle in the west end of Fort Frances.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a vehicle stop.

The officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol. He also failed the roadside screening device and was arrested.

Police arrested and charged the 20-year-old from Baudette, Minn.

The accused was also released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 31.

All three had their vehicles impounded for seven days and were each given a 90 day-license suspension.
