THUNDER BAY — Regional Supervising Coroner Dr. Michael wilson has announced an inquest into the death of a veteran miner at Hemlo three years ago.
Eulogio Gutierrez, 59, died in November 2017 from injuries suffered in an accident while he was working underground at the Barrick Gold mine.
Gutierrez, who joined the company in 1987, was struck by a piece of mobile equipment..
The inquest will start Nov. 16 in the main boardroom of the Ontario government building at 189 Red River Road.
The jury will hear from five witnesses over five days.
Dr. Jennifer Tang will be the presiding coroner.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, the boardroom will remain closed to visitors, and the inquest will be conducted by video conference.
