CAT LAKE -- Proceedings got underway Tuesday morning in the remote community of Cat Lake at an inquest into the death of Romeo Wesley.
The 34-year -old Wesley died at the community nursing station in September of 2010 while in police custody.
The inquest was originally scheduled to take place in Sioux Lookout but was shifted to Cat Lake following appeals from community members.
The inquiry, which will look at the circumstances surrounding Wesley's death, is expected to take about two weeks to complete and will hear from 18-witnesses.
It's being conducted under presiding Coroner Dr. David Cameron.
