The Thunder Bay Catholic District School Board and its elementary teachers have hit another impasse in their contract negotiations.

The talks broke off Wednesday after two days of bargaining. The head of the teachers union says they'll now start imposing job sanctions.

Aldo Grillo would not say what those sanctions are, but with just a few days left in this school year he says the job action will be aimed at school administration and not the students.

The union represents about 390 teachers in 18 Catholic elementary schools in Thunder Bay.

Grillo says the key stumbling block is the acknowledgement of experience when it comes to job postings for teachers.

Director of Education Pino Tassone says the board values all of its members for their hard work and the contributions they make each and every day.

He remains confident a deal can be reached.
