THUNDER BAY -- Job sanctions were reinstated in local high schools Thursday.
Lakehead Public Schools announced late Wednesday they were advised by the Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation job sanctions would be reinstated immediately.
Contract talks with the OSSTF have also been postponed.
The board and the local union had reached a tentative deal on Friday, and were awaiting pre-approval from Education Minister Laurel Broten before voting on it.
But sources say union leaders in Toronto decided to send Broten a message regarding her actions in the negotiating process.
