THUNDER BAY – A judgment is expected in the assault trial of a Thunder Bay Police Service officer this fall.

Const. Marshall Moore was charged with assault causing bodily harm following a June 2023 incident that left a 30-year-old man with serious injuries.

Moore was charged criminally about a year later after the province’s Special Investigations Unit concluded its investigation.

Moore pleaded not guilty to the offence during a brief trial last month.

A judge is expected to return with their decision on Oct. 3 of this year.

The SIU is an independent organization responsible for investigating the conduct of police that may have resulted in death, serious injury, sexual assault and/or the discharge of a firearm at a person.
