THUNDER BAY -- The decision on whether a local man will stand trial for murder has been delayed.

On Friday, Justice Frank Valente was expected to deliver his judgement on whether Randel Wabasse, 23, would be committed to trial for second-degree murder in connection with the death of 46-year-old Adam Nicodemus Beaver, but the judge said his reasons weren't ready yet.

Wabasse appeared in person and was remanded until April 28.

The charge followed reports of a stabbing at Andras Court, a South Cumberland apartment complex, on May 14, 2014 just after 8 a.m.

A three-day preliminary hearing began on March 16 and a dozen witnesses were expected to be called.

Wabasse remains in custody.

The incident was the city’s second homicide investigation of 2014.

None of the allegations against the accused have been proven in court.
