June housing construction bests 10-year average
Housing construction statistics are showing a solid beginning to the summer season in the Thunder Bay area.
Officials with the Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation report that there were 39 new homes started in June, which is 13 more than the 10-year average. It is also 11 more starts than were recorded for June 2011.
On the downside, there were no starts in apartment construction last month. That is expected to change as the year continues due to the overall demand.
