Area motorists will have to deal with another road closure.

A section of Junot Avenue will be closed for the next two weeks for infrastructure work on the new EMS headquarters.

Junot will be closed starting Friday between Walkover Street and and Blucher Crescent. Crews will be working on sewer and watermain work in the coming weeks, in order to service the new EMS station.

Project Engineer Brian Newman said construction on Junot was held until fall in order to not overlap with the construction on Red River Road at the Expressway. That project is still a long ways from completion, and Newman said the potential for traffic back-ups in the area is a concern.

He is now urging drivers to follow detour signs  to help traffic flow as smoothly as possible.

Once the watermain system is complete, Junot will be re-paved and re-open to the public in the fist week of October.
