Jury finds Kenneth Ivall guilty of second-degree murder

KENORA, Ont. -- After just over a day of deliberations, the jury in a Kenora murder case has delivered a guilty verdict against Kenneth Ivall.

KENORA, Ont. -- After just over a day of deliberations, the jury in a Kenora murder case has delivered a guilty verdict against Kenneth Ivall.

Ivall was convicted Wednesday on a charge of second-degree murder for the death of Edward Wilson, and now faces the possibility of life in prison without parole.

A sentencing hearing will be held June 14 in Kenora.

The victim was found dismembered on train tracks in the early morning of March 21, 2009, in the Norman area near Kenora.

Defence attorney Chris Watkins says his client was disappointed with the verdict, but had been prepared for the worst, having already spent nearly four years in custody waiting for the case to go to trial.

The co-accused in the murder case, Angela Duschene, pleaded guilty to manslaughter partway through the trial.

Watkins says the case was very complicated with gruesome details and contradictory witness testimony.

He adds that his client would consider an appeal under the right circumstances.
