Kam River picks up first loss at Centennial Cup

CALGARY -- Carter Streek scored twice on Sunday and helped hand the Kam River Fighting Walleye their first loss at the Centennial Cup in Calgary.

Streek scored the game's first goal at 7:41 of the first, then added an insurance goal at 7:31 of the third period, leading the Grand Prairie Storm to a 3-1 win at the national junior A championship.

Zach Baumann scored 1:45 into the final frame for Kam River, cutting Grand Prairie's lead to 2-1.

Colin Doherty also scored a first-period tally for the Storm.

Ashton Sadauskas made 37 saves in goal for the Fighting Walleye.

Nicholas Jones faced 25 shots between the pipes for Grand Prairie.

Kam River (1-1) takes on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard on Monday.
