Kenora man charged with second-degree murder

KENORA, Ont. - A 57-year-old man is facing a second-degree murder charge following a weekend disturbance in the city of Kenora that left one man dead.

Officers with the Kenora detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a disturbance at a downtown apartment block on Oct. 6 just before 6 p.m.

An injured 63-year-old man was found and transported to hospital by ambulance where he later died of his injuries. The identity of the man is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.

As a result of an investigation, Steven R. Young of Kenora was arrested and charged with second-degree murder.

The OPP Northwest region Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Unit continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

Young made a court appearance on Oct. 7 and is being held in custody.
